The county wide burn ban has been lifted as of 0800 Tuesday, May 26th, 2026. Please use caution if you must burn and remember all fires must be attended at all times.

Please take notice we are still in a burn ban. We did get a little rain but it has already dried off and with the continuous breeze it is very unsafe for any burning. We will post up more updates once conditions improve

A county wide burn ban for Richmond County has been established as of 0900 this morning. All outdoor burning at anytime is prohibited until the ban is lifted. This does not include the use of outdoor grills. Please report any burning to the Richmond County Dispatch non-emergency number 804-333-3611.

04/22/2026

The 4pm State Burn Ban is still on until April 30th, but in conversations with the Richmond County Volunteer Fire Department, we both suggest you refrain from burning at anytime until we get some significant rainfall. If you must burn, please be mindful of the weather and wind. Also remember that if you do burn, you have to stay with it. Fires must not be left unattended.

We apologize for the early morning call that everyone received from the Regroup alerting system about the freeze warning. We had adjusted all non life-threatening alerts to only go off at certain times and I must have missed one. We will be working on the notifications this morning to hopefully assure this will not happen again.
