Last week, Wyoming County Community leaders supported the Letchworth School District's Future Farmers of America Agricultural Issues Team as they presented on the "Birds and the Bees Protection Act". The debate was conducted in a mock setting to provide students with the opportunity to publicly speak on their topic before they advance to the the State Competition. Wyoming County SWCD Technician, Hannah Guindon (back row, second left), was among the group of leaders. The FFA presentation was hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension Wyoming County.

As the saying goes.. April Showers bring May Flowers but here in Wyoming County the weather is nothing but May Showers! This did not dampen the mood at our 2026 Trailside Envirothon hosted at Letchworth State Park with a record breaking 17 teams and 100 students from Allegany and Wyoming County Schools participating in the event. Schools with representation included Andover, Cuba-Rushford, Fillmore, Genesee Valley (Allegany), Attica, Letchworth, and Warsaw (Wyoming).

We are pleased to announce the winning teams that made it on the scoreboard for Wyoming County, with the first place team advancing on to the NYS Envirothon Competition held at SUNY Cortland later this month:

First Place - Letchworth Team 1 (402 points)
Second Place - Warsaw Team 1 (391 Points)
Third Place - Attica Team 1 (384 Points)

It was an excellent turnout and the students, volunteers, instructors and advisors deserve immense credit for braving the wet weather. Wishing Letchworth Team 1 the best of luck as they advance to the State event!
