We're excited to share that a new road makes visiting our park simpler and more convenient than ever! We're also excited about the addition of our state-of-the-art accessible playground. Together, these improvements open the door to even more opportunities to create lasting memories and experience the park's unique natural beauty.

It’s World Ocean’s Day! While we may not have a beach, we do have a pool and the ocean to thank for the limestone that makes up the caverns and much of the rock around the park!

Happy World Environment Day! Here at Rickwood Caverns State Parks, we are covered in a Karst landscape rich in both cave environments below the surface, and a mixed hardwood forest above ground! The best place to admire it all is by taking a hike down Karst Trail, and if you want to discover even more about the park and its environment, then there is no better opportunity then joining in on one of the many programs we offer throughout the year!

Today is that blue moon! Monthly blue moons occur when there are two full moons in the same month, and this May, we have both started and ended the month on a full moon!

Happy World Turtle Day! We are so lucky to have our box turtle teacher creature here to help educate people about our native turtle species! Make sure to wave hello to him the next time you visit the park, and tell us what your favorite turtle is below.

It’s National Endangered Species Day! Did you know that Alabama is home to an endangered bat: the Grey Bat? Habitat loss, light pollution, and hibernation disruption have contributed to their small numbers, so if you see one, make sure to keep things quiet and dark and leave their home exactly like you found it!

Exciting news at Rickwood Caverns State Park-Alabama! We're thrilled to announce our pool will be opening Monday, May 18, at 10:00 AM.

Happy Mother's Day! Although plants can’t move around to care for their offspring, they still do their best to set their saplings up for success, both by filling the seeds with all the nutrients they need to get started and trying to spread them far apart so that they can get the sun they need, whether by tempting animals to do it or using sun or water!
