Does your community need new voices and energy in public leadership? Do you feel like those in elected office are no longer (or never were) accountable to voters, and making the everyday grind smoother for those of us who don't live comfortably? Do you think you could do the job better, cleaner, and in a way that restores confidence in public institutions?

If you or someone you know comes to mind when reading the above: WE WANT YOU! Now is the time to reach out and signal interest in being the change we've been waiting for in Clatsop County. Like, share, and tag your community leaders so we can bring them into the fold on time for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027!

We've just got a few days left to take care of things that "May" happen if we find the time.

Then comes a long, hot summer of goals we Must achieve, organizing that Must be tight as General Election campaigning shifts into high gear, and we Must advocate & protest to fight for changes that support working families here on the North Coast.

What will you be chasing this summer in Clatsop County?

A solemn day to remember those who swore oaths to defend & protect our United States Constitution, and when the moment came, paid the ultimate cost to preserve freedoms that remain under threat today.

This morning, amid breezy winds & rainshowers, Clatsop County was invited to gather and remember the names of our dead. Our local U.S. Coast Guard aviators flew in as well to drop a wreath (organic & biodegradable) into Cemetery Lake as well. We managed to get a photo of the wreath being released and splashdown in the lake!

It was a day where we chose, even if only for a moment, to cross lines that divide us and instead focus upon what can unify people across the political spectrum and generations here in Clatsop County.

Working Families appear to have won two major victories in Warrenton last night, approving investment in the public safety services provided by Warrenton Fire Department while also maintaining public health with continued fluoride treatment of city drinking water. Your out-of-town neighbors in the Clatsop Plains as far south as Gearhart thank you!

The races to represent our communities in Salem are also taking a sharper focus as we move beyond the Primary Season. Representative Javadi, who has received the Oregon Working Families Party endorsement, will continue to campaign this summer and early fall against his Republican opponent, which appears to be Max Sherman from Tillamook County, by a narrow margin. In our Senate, Rachel Armitage has clearly defeated her opponents and will move on to face Clatsop County Commissioner Courtney Bangs.

It will be a long, hot summer for politics. Working Families in Clatsop County will be looking for relief from a deflated economy, strained public services & goods (The Highway 26 Bump, among others!), and need champions who will represent coastal, river, and timberlands well in the capital. As well, our municipal campaigns will soon file and begin making the case for leadership opportunities closer to home for many of us.

Why not YOU? Now is the time to not only vote, but consider getting involved and being the change we so desperately need.

Less than 24 hours to get your ballot to a ballot box, Clatsop County!

Also, we're having our monthly Oregon Working Families Party members call tomorrow, just ahead of polls closing. Why not join us via Zoom and begin building the community we will need to send working-class champions to your city hall, as well as the halls of the Oregon Legislature, later this fall?

Let's get busy creating an Oregon that works for everyone!

The ballot drop-boxes are a safe, secure way to participate in democracy with direct pick-up and local delivery to Clatsop County Elections. No matter how your ballot travels, make a plan to vote and GO VOTE!

Our May Day meeting was an opportunity to discuss summer organizing, with plans to keep involved in communities across Clatsop County and to keep visible so people have opportunities to engage, ask questions, and find community among the working-class.

We also had Rachel Armitage, candidate for Senate District 16, stop by and spend 2 hours discussing how the campaign is going, where she has been meeting with voters, and answering questions directly from voters who wanted to hear clearly where she stands on issues that progressive voters & working families need a champion in Salem to represent our interests.

Our next meeting will be Sunday, May 31st, in Astoria at Obelisk Brewing at 5pm. Come run with the Wolves as we move beyond the Primary elections and prepare for a long, hot summer building a Clatsop County that works for everyone!

It is "Ballot Mailing Eve" in Oregon, and the following article features quotes from our Oregon Working Families Party State Director, Annie Naranjo-Rivera about the shaking up among the liberal governing establishment as progressive candidates challenge moderate incumbents who have shown themselves to be too closely tied to corporate influence & money.

While most of these races and candidates involved communities upriver and over the hills, our own North Coast's Senate District 16 is highlighted near the end of the article.

Down-ballot and closer to home, Working Families Party members are pursuing change in communities here in Clatsop County that will bring the voice of the working-class back into civic life. Come learn more and consider running with the Wolves in 2026!

A number of new, progressive Democrats are running in Oregon’s legislative primary races and challenging more moderate incumbents.

This Friday, May 1st, 2026, on International Workers Day, the Clatsop County Wolfpack will be meeting at 5pm over at El Compadre Restaurant in Warrenton.

This comes as voting will be underway on Warrenton's ballot measure to maintain fluoride in the municipal drinking water, which impacts public health for thousands across western Clatsop County.

Can you join with us in community to hear about the Working Families Guarantee, as well as the opportunity for us to have a booth at the Clatsop County Fair later this summer?
