Recently, our agency’s Incident Support Team met for their monthly training night.

During this training, IST members completed a size up of our agency equipment and practiced operating it so they were familiar with how it functions before a real world disaster.

Afterward, team members returned to our agency office for a three hour damage assessment and radio size up training course. During the course, IST members were challenged to describe what they were seeing over the radio to a radio team located in a separate room.

The scenarios included real life photos and videos of road washouts, tree damage, damaged buildings, and damaged vehicles. As the reports came in, the radio team and County Emergency Manager submitted the information directly to the State through WebEOC, which is used for disaster situational awareness.

This is just one of the ways Warren County Emergency Management continues preparing before disaster strikes.

Started on May 5th, 1868 as “Decoration Day,” Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country.

Today, on May 25th, 2026, we pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who never returned home and the families who continue to carry that loss each day. Their courage, service, and dedication to this nation will never be forgotten.

From all of us at Warren County Emergency Management, we extend our deepest gratitude to the fallen heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms.
