School may have just started, but our paramedics and EMTs learn year-round!
Recently, our crews took part in hands-on training alongside Monarch Fire Protection District, focused on obstetric and pregnancy emergencies. Using the University of Missouri’s simulation bus, crews were able to train in a realistic, hands-on environment right here in our community.
These are high-acuity, low-frequency emergencies, making regular training especially important. Hands-on simulations give our crews the opportunity to practice these skills in a realistic environment, so when they encounter one of these situations, they have high-quality training and experience to fall back on.
This training was made possible through partnerships with organizations and experts who help us continue building our skills, including the MU Shelden Clinical Simulation Center, Missouri EMS for Children -EMSC, St. Louis Children's Hospital, and WashU EMS Physicians.
Realistic, hands-on training helps our crews stay prepared for the emergencies we may encounter — because when you need us, there’s no substitute for being ready.
