We have so many people to thank for joining us for Light the Way: A Community Walk for Hope—for showing up, sharing the stories of their loved ones, carrying the light, and gathering together to remind our community that no one walks alone.

There are complicated feelings that come with su***de prevention. While we remain incredibly grateful to everyone who showed up and shared their stories with us, we also left the evening thinking about just how many people in our community are grieving the loss of someone to su***de.

If you missed Light the Way, there is still a way to show your support.

Today, you can join the Lexy's Light team at Virginia Gateway for the AFSP Out of the Darkness Walk. There will be two tents where you can sign up with the team—just look for the purple banner. Checkin is at 11 am - the walk begins at 12:30 pm.

September 10th is World Su***de Prevention Day.

We are just two days away from this community event. If you have a friend who has lost someone to su***de, consider asking them to join you. If you are someone who has lost a loved one to su***de, consider asking a friend to come with you.

Meet us at 6:30 pm at Courthouse Square. We have a luminary bag waiting for your loved one's name. We have a ribbon waiting for your positive words. We have friends to be made, stories to be heard, and memories to be shared.

You are loved.

Are you seeking an evening of meaningful conversation and supporting your community? We have you covered this Thursday, September 10th in Old Town Warrenton.

You might ask why we planned two events on one day and why on a Thursday? Well September 10th is World Su***de Prevention Day - held annually to break the stigma surrounding su***de and encourage you to start the conversation.

Why a CHATS event and what is it? Connection is the best way to protect your mental health. CHATS is simply a group of people who get to know one another through fun activities and learning how to listen well.

Here is this weekend’s lineup for the Warrenton Farmers Market 🙌🏻 The Fauquier County Young Entrepreneurs will be joining us so be sure to stop by and check out this next generation of vendors. Additionally we are excited to have the The Fruitful Forest 🍄🌱 with us as a guest vendor, bringing her wide variety of mushrooms. And last but not least, please be sure to stop by our tent and say hi to the folks with Mental Health Assn. Fauquier. September is Su***de Prevention Month and we are honored to partner with them in order to being awareness to the available resources out there. Come rain or come shine, is market time! ❤️

Collaborating in Care: Ministry & Mental Health training event on October 23rd, hosted at the Fredericksburg VA Health Care Center (HCC) from 830 a.m. - 1230 p.m.

CCMM is a 4-hour, highly interactive community training that is geared toward leaders and members of faith communities as well as mental health professionals and community advocates.

Goal #1: To consider how clergy, faith communities, mental health professionals, and mental health advocates can more effectively partner and offer care for Veterans and persons with mental health struggles

Goal #2: To promote understanding between faith-based and mental health perspectives, equip attendees for collaboration by reducing stigma associated with different forms of help-seeking, and encourage a “no wrong door” attitude and approach toward care

Goal #3: To engage in community-based discussions about how to recognize distress, create space for suffering, and get “upstream” with su***de prevention

The training will fall during Spiritual Care Week, which honors and celebrates pastoral care and its practitioners. Our Chaplain and I are looking forward to this unique opportunity to engage with faith and community leaders, which will ultimately increase support for our servicemembers, veterans, and families in their local communities.
