🎉THEY EARNED EVERY MINUTE! 🎉

Today, we celebrated our freshman scholars during Freshman Seminar, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they are tackling their first year of high school!

Our freshmen are showing us what it means to START STRONG—with high daily attendance, limited missing assignments, on-time work, strong grade averages, positive attitudes, and continued improvement in attention to detail. 🌟

So today, we celebrated! 🥳 Scholars enjoyed refreshments, card games, reading, working ahead, and—most importantly—some well-earned time to relax and fellowship with one another.

Freshman Seminar is about giving our newest scholars the tools and support they need to successfully transition to high school, but it’s also about recognizing when they put those tools into action.

And this group is doing just that! 👏🏾

Keep it up, Class of 2030! The habits you build today are preparing you for the success you’ll celebrate tomorrow. 🎓

Civics in Action at WECHS!

Scholars in Mr. Moguel’s Civic Literacy Honors class took their learning beyond the classroom by participating in the National Constitution Center’s Scholar Exchange: Civic Virtues webinar.

Through this interactive experience, scholars explored the role of civic virtues in American democracy and considered the responsibilities we share as informed and engaged citizens.

At WECHS, we want our scholars to do more than learn about government and democracy—we want them to understand the important role they play in it. 🌟

Thank you to the National Constitution Center for providing our scholars with another meaningful opportunity to connect classroom learning with the world around them!

🎓 College Conversations at WECHS! 🎓

Today, our Senior Project scholars had the pleasure of welcoming Ms. Latori Gregory, representative from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG)!

Ms. Gregory shared valuable information about admission requirements, athletics, student life, study abroad opportunities, and the overall college experience. Our seniors also had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about what UNCG has to offer. 🌟

As our Class of 2027 prepares for their next chapter, opportunities like these help our scholars explore their options and make informed decisions about their futures.

A special thank you to Ms. Gregory and UNCG for spending time with our scholars and bringing the college conversation directly to WECHS!
