Why does this matter?
Burg Fest is one of the biggest events of the year in downtown Warrensburg, bringing thousands of people together for rides, vendors, food, performances, and more. But for some individuals and families, attending a large community event comes with additional considerations.
The Center for Human Services Mobile Sensory & Accessible Restroom unit helps remove some of those barriers. It includes an adult-sized changing station, something severely lacking in our community and surrounding communities, as well as a private space where caregivers can assist with needs such as administering medication or providing nutrition through a feeding tube.
The unit also includes a sensory space, giving individuals a quieter place to step away from the noise, crowds, lights, and activity of the festival when they need it.
These accommodations can make the difference between leaving an event early, not attending at all, or being able to enjoy the day alongside everyone else.
That’s why Warrensburg Main Street Inc.’s commitment to making Burg Fest more accessible matters.
Inclusion isn’t just making sure everyone is invited. It’s making sure more people have what they need to participate.
