100 years young!

Happy 100th birthday to Joseph “Joe” Urso, and welcome to the Macomb County 100 Club...our 101st member if you are counting!

We had the honor of being invited to Joe's celebration this afternoon at Brookdale Senior Living surrounded by family, friends and the Brookdale community. Born September 2, 1926, in Detroit, Joe has lived a remarkable century filled with hard work, family, friendship and plenty of adventure. After graduating from Mackenzie High School, Joe built a long career with General Motors, where he served for many years as an engineer’s assistant.

He enjoys big band music, tennis and, appropriately, the color red. But perhaps one of the most impressive things about Joe is that at 100 years old, he still drives himself to church, doctor appointments and the grocery store...now that's independence!

This 100th Club celebration was extra special because Edna Ventimiglia was our 100th member celebrated!

We were honored to celebrate Edna’s 100th birthday with her and some of her family today.

Edna was born September 2, 1926, in Detroit, and lived in the city until 1990 before moving to Warren and later Clinton Township. Edna was the daughter of Italian immigrants, raised in a hardworking family and has always valued family, a strong work ethic and good character.

Asked what her greatest accomplishment is? Her family! Edna raised six children and is now a proud grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 16. She enjoys classic movies, traveling, puzzles, music and spending time with her family. And she has a special talent...Edna can play the piano by ear!

Her advice for a long life is simple: keep a positive attitude, laugh, enjoy a Mediterranean diet and have a little chocolate.

Congratulations, Edna, on 100 incredible years and on becoming the 100th member of the Macomb 100 Club!

Today, we joined SAPA Transmission for the groundbreaking of its new 220,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility in Shelby Township. With an investment of more than $150 million and plans to create 300+ new jobs, this expansion will strengthen SAPA’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and support the continued development of mobility technologies for military vehicles.

Macomb County has long been a leader in defense and manufacturing, and we’re proud to work alongside SAPA, the State of Michigan, Shelby Township and our regional partners to help make this expansion possible.

On Saturday, August 22, family and friends gathered at Blossom Heath Park in St. Clair Shores to celebrate an extraordinary milestone, Pat's 100th birthday!

Pat was born and raised in Detroit and graduated from St. Philip Neri High School before attending Marygrove College, where she graduated in 1948. Getting there took some determination; Pat had to take four buses to get to college. The oldest of four children, Pat grew up with her brother, Frank, and sisters, Kathleen and Mary Ellen. Her sister Mary Ellen is now 90 years old. Of all the milestones and memories from her first 100 years, Pat says one of her greatest accomplishments is also one of her proudest: raising her six children.

Over the years, Pat has enjoyed painting, singing and playing cards, and she still enjoys a good game of cards today. Of all the places she has traveled, Ireland remains her favorite. And when you've reached 100, people naturally want to know your secret to longevity.

Pat's advice is pretty simple: Enjoy plenty of ice cream and drink lots of hot water.

Reaching 100 years old is something truly special. It's not just about the number of years, but the family, friendships, experiences and memories that fill those years.

Happy 100th Birthday, Pat! It was an honor to help celebrate this incredible milestone with you and officially welcome you to the Macomb 100 Club! 🎂

Today, we stopped by to celebrate Eclipse Mold in Chesterfield Township, MI, a family-owned manufacturer that has grown from a small tool shop in 1976 into a $50 million company employing 225 people across three Macomb County facilities.

With more than 75 million parts produced each year, Eclipse Mold continues to prove that quality, innovation and keeping your word are the foundation of lasting success.

“If it’s not good, it doesn’t leave the building.”

From concept to creation, no one does it better than Macomb County manufacturers. Congratulations to the entire Eclipse Mold team on 50 years!
