June 1–5 is Medicare Fraud Prevention Week

Medicare Fraud Prevention Week raises awareness about the actions everyone can take to help prevent, detect and report Medicare fraud. Get involved by learning more, sharing resources, and helping older adults and their families stay informed.

Medicare Fraud Prevention Week focuses on the actions everyone can take to prevent Medicare fraud, errors, and abuse. Medicare Fraud Prevention Week runs the week of June 5, or 6/5, because most people become eligible for Medicare when they turn 65.

MN Comprehensive Aging Survey

The Minnesota Comprehensive Aging Survey is a statewide survey that asks older Minnesotans about their daily lives, needs, and experiences.
• You can take this survey if you’re 60 or older and live in Minnesota.
• The survey is optional and takes about 20 minutes.
• Your answers are private and won’t be linked to your name.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services and Minnesota Board on Aging are working with Vital Research, an independent research company, to run this survey. Your answers will help the State of Minnesota improve services and supports for you and your community.

Elder Justice Awareness Month Webinar Series

In recognition of Elder Justice Awareness Month, ACL and the Elder Justice Coordinating Council (EJCC) are hosting a webinar series on protecting older adults by strengthening awareness, prevention, and response to fraud, abuse, and exploitation. This series offers practical tools and insights for professionals, advocates, and community members. This series reflects the EJCC’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that all older adults can live with dignity, independence, and security in their communities.

Seeking Participants!

The Giving Voice at https://www.givingvoicechorus.org/ which provides support to communities around the country to create and sustain choirs for people with dementia and their care partners.

They have been awarded grant funds to conduct a study to learn more about the benefits and outcomes associated with participation in these choral groups. Here is a bit more about the project: https://www.givingvoicechorus.org/research

Control participants complete a few short virtual surveys and conversations, all done from home, with no choir participation required. Each participant earns a $35 Visa card.

Justice North (formerly Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota) will host a Legacy Links Estate Planning Clinic for low-income homeowners in Moorhead on Wednesday, June 24th.

This will ensure low-income homeowners in greater Minnesota receive essential estate planning services, we are asking for your help in identifying and referring eligible clients and in spreading the word.
