DEM Environmental Police are attempting to locate the operator and vessel that was involved in a collision in the area of Usher Cove in Bristol, RI at approximately 4:00 PM on Monday 8-31-26.
The vessel struck a swimmer close to shore. The vessel is described by witnesses as white, sitting low in the water, bowrider style vessel, a black outboard engine and a windshield that opens to enable a walk through to the front of the boat approximately 20β-24β. The operator is described as a male, middle aged, slender build, wearing glasses and grey hair. It is reported by witnesses that the operator left from the scene in the direction of Portsmouth, i.e. exiting Bristol Harbor heading south with an unknown final destination.
