On Saturday June 3rd, New Hamburg Fire Dept held their 100th anniversary parade with many mutual aid fire companies. Around 2:45pm New Hamburg Fire was dispatched to the Village of Wappingers Falls for a report of a structure fire. Police updated incoming units of a working fire. New Hamburg responded with an engine and 6 volunteers and was on scene within 4 minutes from dispatch. And established a water supply. Shortly after arrival a second alarm was transmitted bringing a truck from New Hamburg. New Hamburg operated with approximately 12 volunteers and was put back in service around 7:30 pm.

On May 15th at 2:48pm Hughsonville Fire Dept. and New Hamburg Fire Dept. as the FAST, were dispatched to a garage on fire on Rt. 9d. Hughsonville Car 1 arrived and confirmed a working fire and updated incoming crews. New Hamburg 53-13 and Hughsonville 45-31 arrived and established a water supply and took on fire suppression. The fire was contained to one side of the garage due to quick work from both companies. Also on scene was New Hackensack Fire Dept and NYSP as well as County Car 17. Great work by all. Currently members of the New Hamburg Fire Dept. are working at the scene of a second alarm structure fire with 53-45 in the Fairview fire district.

Early Tuesday morning New Hamburg Fire was dispatched mutual aid to the Village of Wappingers with and engine for a working apartment fire with extension into the attic space at 30 Fulton St. Members arrived on scene and assisted in fire suppression and laddering the building. Members operated for about 2 hours before being put back in service.

While the winter storm Stella is coming to an end NHFD had 8 members on standby for over 24 hours while responding to multiple mutual aid calls with two reported house fires. The New Hamburg fire district urges that everyone doesn't forget to shovel out their fire hydrants with the 24"+ snow we got. Also remember to change your smoke detector batteries as we just got done with day light savings. Thank you stay safe.

At 7:53 this morning New Hamburg Fire and Mobile Life were dispatched for a car accident with a car in the pond. 53-13 arrived on the scene with 2 firefighters already in Mustang Rescue Suits to confirm all occupants were out. The car split a telephone pole in half and luckily landed upright in a shallow pond. There were 5 occupants who were self extricated prior to our arrival. All 5 were transported to local hospitals with non life threatening injuries. Great Job by all those that responded.

New Hamburg fire trucks will es**rt Santa's sleigh throughout the district on Saturday, December 17th for candy canes, Christmas carols and pictures with Santa himself.

New Hamburg EMTs, Mobile Life Support Services and Town of Poughkeepsie Police Officers just revived a male who was not breathing with an opiod overdose on Route 9. Police Officers administered nasal Narcan and NHFD members maintained an airway and rescue breathing until Mobile Life's arrival shortly after.

Sadly, this type of event has because so commonplace that we don't even report them anymore. We would however like to bring attention to the general public that this is happening in every community in Dutchess County on a regular basis. If someone you know is suffering from addiction, please try to get them counseling.

10/13/16 - New Hamburg Firefighters respond to four calls for service.

NHFD assisted Hughsonville Fire District at two first alarm assignments as well as Wappingers Falls FD for an additional first alarm.

At 8:40 PM, New Hamburg and Mobile Life Support Services were dispatched for a male that collapsed at the Poughkeepsie Galleria. Galleria security further reported that the man had slipped in to cardiac arrest. Thanks to great teamwork by MLSS, NHFD and Galleria security, the man was awake and answering questions by the time MLSS and NHFD reached a local hospital. This is the second positive outcome for a cardiac arrest in New Hamburg alongside Mobile Life in ten days!
