If you’re opening a flower garden, a little rain is probably the best good-luck sign you can get! It drizzled on and off the morning of Saturday, May 2, as we officially opened The Gardens at Mesier Park — and we didn’t mind a bit. 🌷🌦️

How lucky we are to have beautiful Mesier Park in the heart of our village, and now a stunning garden nestled beside the Mesier Homestead for all to enjoy.

We are deeply grateful to our friend and Lifetime WHS member, John DiDomizio, for his generosity and vision in making this garden a reality. Although he no longer lives in our community, John holds fond memories of childhood visits to the area. His passion for local history — especially Stoneco — and his desire to honor his family’s legacy inspired this meaningful and lasting gift to the community.

We invite everyone to visit The Gardens at Mesier Park this spring and summer and enjoy the beauty, history, and peacefulness of this special place. 🌸

Spring has sprung in Mesier Park! 🌞 Now is the time to visit "The Gardens at Mesier Park" to see this gorgeous palette of spring tulips🌷 in full bloom. Sit, soak in the sunshine and take in the beauty of the Mesier Homestead and Museum and Mesier Park. "The Gardens at Mesier Park" were planned and planted through a generous donation by Lifetime WHS member John DiDomizio, whose paternal grandfather, Antonio, first arrived in Wappingers Falls in 1897. The family has had a continuous presence in the village since that time. John himself visited the falls for the first time in the early 1950’s to meet his aunts and uncles. After joining the Wappingers Historical Society in 2009, John became acquainted with the society’s postcard collection and saw beautiful rhododendrons along the road leading to the homestead. After discussions with the society, the Phase I plan on the east side of the homestead was formulated. There are roughly 500 daffodils and 1000 tulips which came up this spring. To follow will be nearly 20 rhododendrons and dozens of other flowering perennials. The Phase II plan is to add a colonial herb garden and other plantings to the rear of the house. In John’s view, Mesier Park is the crown jewel of the village and improvements to the landscaping should attract visitors from throughout Dutchess County and beyond.

📣A ribbon cutting to officially open "The Gardens at Mesier Park" is scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd at 11am, rain or shine. 📣
