Happy National Grandparents Day!

Today, I’m sending extra love to two of the absolute best: my wonderful mom, Lois, and my amazing mother-in-law, Claire. Watching them spoil and pour endless love into my son Anthony over the years has been one of the greatest joys of my life. They are top-tier grandmas, and our family is so blessed to have them!

Now, full transparency here… I am officially a Grandma Wannabe and waiting (patiently... mostly!) for the day I get to join the club myself. No pressure, Anthony and Kaela, but I’ve got my official "World's Best Grandma" mug ready to go whenever you are!

Grandparents truly are the heart of our families and our communities. They bring us wisdom, warm hugs, unconditional love, and—let’s be honest—the absolute best snacks.
To all the wonderful grandmothers and grandfathers across Dutchess County today, thank you for everything you do. Enjoy your special day!

I’d love for everyone to join me tomorrow for our Patriotic Park Jam Concert at the Bowdoin Park bandshell.

While this free concert is a special opportunity to honor and celebrate our amazing local veterans and their families, the entire community is invited to come out, relax, and enjoy the afternoon together. Pack a picnic, grab your lawn chairs or blankets, and join us for a fantastic lineup of music featuring The Funky Plantains, G.I. Jam, and more.

As many of our friends and neighbors come together to celebrate Rosh Hashanah and welcome the Jewish New Year, I want to send my warmest wishes to our entire Jewish community.

This time of reflection and renewal feels especially poignant this year. Between the ongoing weight and grief that many in our Jewish fellowship are carrying during these deeply challenging times, and today being September 11th—a day forever etched in our hearts with sorrow, resilience, and unity—our thoughts are heavy. Yet, even in the face of hardship, Rosh Hashanah reminds us of the power of hope, sweet new beginnings, and community strength.

May the year ahead bring comfort, security, and true peace to your homes and to our world. Wishing all who celebrate and your loved ones a sweet, healthy, and blessed New Year.

Twenty-five years ago, our world changed forever. For those of us who lived through that morning, the memory remains razor-sharp—the clear blue sky, the sudden shock, the overwhelming grief, and the profound uncertainty of what would come next.
We lost nearly 3,000 innocent lives on September 11th, 2001. Among them were 411 first responders—firefighters, police officers, and paramedics—who didn’t hesitate. They ran straight into danger so that others might live. In the weeks, months, and years that followed, countlessly more brave men and women answered the call to serve, both in uniform overseas and right here at home during the rescue and recovery efforts.

As the years pass, an entire generation has grown up with 9/11 as a chapter in a textbook rather than a lived memory. That makes our responsibility today all the more critical. "Never Forget" isn't just a slogan we repeat once a year—it is an active promise. It’s an oath to keep the memory of the fallen alive, to care for their families and those who became ill from the exposure of the attacks, and to pass down the stories of selflessness, resilience, and unity that defined our country in its darkest hour.

In the days after the attacks, there were no political divides, no barriers between neighbors. We were simply Americans standing shoulder-to-shoulder, lifting each other up. That is the true spirit of 9/11, and that is what we must carry forward every single day.

May God bless the memory of those we lost, may God protect our first responders and military personnel, and may God bless the United States of America.

Hi everyone!

I am so excited to share something close to my heart: my brand-new newsletter, Sincerely, Sue!

I created this space as a way for us to connect on a more personal level—to share what’s on my mind, keep you in the loop, and shine a spotlight on the incredible people and organizations I’m so lucky to meet across our county every single day.

In this premiere issue, I’m opening up about a topic that’s top of mind, the urgent need to regulate kratom. For those unfamiliar, kratom is an herbal substance sold in convenience stores and online that produces opioid-like effects. Because it's currently unregulated, it poses serious health risks, especially to our young people. I am fighting for the strongest possible protections and bans because keeping our families safe and saving lives is my top priority.

On a lighter note, I’m also sharing some of my absolute favorite local spots. This issue features the wonderful Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo in Millbrook. It’s such a hidden gem in our backyard.

Plus, we’re honoring an extraordinary hometown hero: Private James Crifo, a 101-year-old WWII veteran residing in East Fishkill. His life and service are a true inspiration to us all.

Another year wiser, and officially celebrating a big milestone!

Now, a true lady never reveals her exact age, but let’s just say this year ends in a very shiny 5!

I want to send a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who reached out with kind birthday messages, calls, and well wishes yesterday. You all made me feel so incredibly loved and grateful to serve this wonderful community.

To celebrate, I enjoyed an absolutely delicious dinner at Cosimo’s—truly the perfect spot! The absolute highlight of the night was busting my sweet mom, Lois, out of her rehab facility so she could join the party! We had the best time, though we were having so much fun that I forgot to snap a picture with her before the ambulette pulled up to whisk her back home!

Feeling blessed, well-fed, and so excited to see all the wonderful things this next chapter brings!

Join me TODAY at 12:00 PM as we come together to honor an extraordinary local hero for our September Veteran of Distinction Ceremony!

We are proud to recognize U.S. Army Private James Crifo, a true living legend who fought for our freedom in WWII and was awarded the prestigious Legion of Honor medal by the French government for his immense bravery and service.

It is a rare and humbling privilege to honor a living hero who stood tall in defense of democracy—let’s show him the gratitude and support of our entire community!

Time: Today, Tuesday, September 8 at NOON.

As Labor Day weekend comes to a close, I hope you’ve had a wonderful time relaxing and celebrating with family and friends across our beautiful county!

I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to share my deepest gratitude for all the people who make Dutchess County thrive. To our small business owners, farmers, skilled tradespeople, educators, first responders, service workers, and our dedicated County Government team—thank you for your continuous hard work, passion, and commitment. You are the true backbone of our community.

With the unofficial end of summer, we have so much to look forward to as a new season begins in Dutchess County. Thank you all for everything you do, and let’s carry this great momentum into a fantastic fall!

Up, up, and away!

What an incredible weekend celebrating the 35th Annual Hudson Valley Balloon Festival at Tymor Park!

Huge shout-out to Frank and the entire team at the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce for putting on such a magnificent event, and to all the amazing volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make the magic happen.

It was so great catching up with old friends like Uncle Mike (aka the Balloon Goon!) and visiting the adorable animals with Two by Two Petting Zoo. And of course, no festival trip is complete without some local treats—we grabbed delicious ice cream from Twisted Sisters and scored some warm mini donuts from Poughkeepsie’s own Donuts for Days for my Mom as she continues her recovery journey. She loved them!

I don't usually share this, but I've actually had a collection of Cutco knives for 30 years, ever since my nephew was selling them way back when. They are still going strong! I was so excited to see them at the festival, check out their booth, and officially add a new piece to the collection after all these years.

Thank you to everyone who came out to make this weekend so special. We truly live in the best community!
