For those who have been touched or affected by yesterday's tragic events, the community stands with you. There will be a community gathering tonight at 7PM, Muscatine Community Stadium at Muscatine High School. Enter from Houser Street or Cedar Street for Parking as the Bonnie Drive entrance is closed.

This didn't just affect Muscatine. It affected Louisa County as well, and we stand with you during this time.

Our hearts are with the McFarland, Whitlow and Harris families and all those affected by this tragic loss.

The Muscatine community is invited to come together this evening at 7 o'clock to support one another, honor cherished lives, and find strength in unity during this difficult time.

PUBLIC OPINION NEEDED FOR HAZARD MITIGATION PLANNING
Louisa County and all cities in the county are working with Louisa County Emergency Management and Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission (SEIRPC) to update the Louisa County Hazard Mitigation Plan.
We are working on the plan to make the community safer from natural hazard events such as drought, extreme heat, flood, and severe weather. Other hazards that are considered include hazardous material spills, dam or levee issues, diseases that can occur and terrorism. We need public comments to develop recommended actions that can be taken to improve community safety and reduce the effects of these hazards in the future.
A Public Opinion Survey is available at your local City Hall and on the Louisa County Emergency Management website. SEIRPC has a link to the survey as well.
We would like anyone in Louisa County who is interested in Hazard Mitigation to send us comments about problems your community has had from these hazards and any solutions that you think would make the County or City safer. Surveys, comments and opinions are needed by July 15, 2026.

Please note if you are headed to Muscatine this afternoon. Stewart Road remains closed as well.

Northbound lanes of Hwy 61 will be closed for approximately 2 hours around 67th Ave West and the Casey's. DOT is working on setting up a detour. Please avoid the area.
