All of us thank the Uniopolis Historical Society for hosting the Wreath Laying Ceremony at the grave of Revolutionary War soldier John Ridley on Sunday afternoon. We owe a debt we can never repay to John Ridley and tens of thousands like him who sacrificed to create the country whose rights and privileges we now enjoy.

On May 27, 1947, Neil Armstrong graduated from Blume High School in Wapakoneta, Ohio, at the age of 16.

Armstrong was active in extracurricular activities at Blume. He participated in band, student council, glee club, and in the class play.

The Historical Society's Wapakoneta Museum, 206 W. Main Street, and Mooney Museum, 223 S. Main St., St. Marys, will open this Sunday, May 24, from 1 to 4 pm. All are welcome. The Mooney Museum will include a special display about accomplished women from Auglaize County.

The America 250 Committee and the St. Marys Community Public Library, 140 S. Chestnut Street, announce that the traveling banner exhibit entitled “Alexander Hamilton: Immigration, Patriot, Visionary” is on display at the library through June 30. The library is open Monday through Thursday, 10 am to 7 pm; Friday and Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm; closed on Sunday. “Alexander Hamilton: Immigration, Patriot, Visionary” explores the founding era through the life of one of its most influential figures, Alexander Hamilton. Thanks to the library for hosting this important and fascinating exhibit!
