The Wanamingo maintenance staff are starting to jet (clean out) the clay sanitary sewer lines in the older part of town. The maintenance staff will continue jetting this week and potentially into next week. The jetting is routine maintenance to clear main sewer lines of sand, grit, solids, and tree roots to ensure normal flow continues. This jetting does not touch service lines from homes to the main. These lines are privately owned by each home/business owner. Some sounds and bubbling of air can occur in basement toilets and floor drains. There is water pressure created during this process that can create air bubble especially if home ventilation lines are plugged. Residents are encouraged to check their ventilation lines yearly for blockage. Please call city hall at 507-824-2477 if you experience any additional signs of sewer issues during the next week or two.

Starting Tuesday April 14th the Wanamingo maintenance staff will be flushing the hydrants and water lines through the week. Hydrant valves are lubricated with special oil and exercised as part of routine maintenance. The flushing is routine maintenance to clear sediment out of the water lines. City staff flush hydrants in both the spring and the fall. The water and any remaining sediments in the lines become agitated. This may lead to some temporary discolored water in your lines. If this occurs, run your water facet for 30 seconds to a minute in order to flush any sediment out of your lines. Sorry for any inconvenience(s).

2026 Golf Cart Registration Permits are now available to Wanamingo citizens. The State of Minnesota allows the operation of motorized golf carts on designated public streets, provided the operator obtains a local permit that includes proof of insurance. The City of Wanamingo would like to thank everyone who has registered their golf carts for this upcoming year. The permit stickers are $15 (same fee amount for nearly 20 years), required for driving golf carts on city streets, and are good for the calendar year. Please fill out an application at City Hall. Any questions, please feel free to call us at 507-824-2477.
