Wamsutter Fire was represented by our very own firefighter/EMT Sam Warne as he honored the firefighters, police, ems and civilians that perished 25 years ago. Firefighter Warne had some help from his son on a few of the laps of stair climbs. Firefighter Warne completed 110 flights of stairs and some of the while under air.
Firefighter Warne recalled 25 years ago when the attacks of September 11 happened he was in class watching the news with classmates in his 3rd grade class. To this day Warne has not forgotten that day or the sacrifices that were made.

🇺🇸 25 YEARS. WE REMEMBER.

September 11, 2001 — a day that forever changed our nation.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the families who were forever changed, and the countless heroes who ran toward danger when others were running away.

We remember the 343 firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority police officers, and all of the law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We remember their courage.
We remember their sacrifice.
We remember the families they left behind.
And we remember the heroes who continue to carry the physical and emotional scars of that day.

25 years later, their names still matter. Their stories still matter. Their sacrifice still matters.

May we never forget.

The National Smokejumper Association is mourning the loss of our fellow jumper, NSA Board member, and friend, Sarah Doehring, MSO ’91, who passed away unexpectedly on August 26 from complications of cancer.
Sarah was a smokejumper for 24 seasons (MSO 1991–1996, 1998–2011; GAC 1997, 2012–2014). She was the first female smokejumper base manager at Grangeville, Idaho, serving from 2012–2014, and later brought her experience and leadership to the NSA Board of Directors, where she served as Treasurer.
Memorials honoring Sarah will be announced in several locations in the coming days.
The NSA extends its deepest condolences to her husband, Butch, and to Sarah’s family and loved ones.

Did you know that even though Firefighters and EMT’s are grown ups and out of school they still have to go to “school”. Firefighters and EMT’s have to complete continuing education hours to make sure they stay up to date with any changes in patient care and keep their skills sharp.
Well that’s exactly what Firefighter/EMT Warne did last week. He attended the Wyoming State Ems Conference attending classes to gain further training and keep his skills sharp to better keeping serving the community of Wamsutter.
Warne is pictured with members of the Wamsutter Ambulance crew and Wamsutter EMS Director as well as a member of the Evanston Ambulance Crew
