MEDIA RELEASE – STRUCTURE FIRE

Shortly after 8:15 p.m. this evening, emergency crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire in rural Pottawatomie County.

Units from St. Marys Fire Department, Belvue Township Fire Department, Emmett Fire Department, Pottawatomie County EMS, Pottawatomie County Consolidated Fire, and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Highway 24 & Schoeman Road for a report of a large barn fire reported near other structures.

Upon arrival, crews found a mid sized agricultural structure fully involved with fire. Firefighters initiated a defensive fire attack to contain the fire and protect nearby exposures.

Belvue Township Fire Department responded with four apparatus and 10 personnel to assist with fire suppression operations.

We would also like to recognize and thank the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center for their outstanding work during this incident. Their coordination and support played a critical role in ensuring timely dispatching, resource management, and overall scene efficiency.

We appreciate the coordinated response and teamwork from all assisting agencies in bringing this incident under control.
