This is a joint initiative between our local ACE hardware and the village to replace the guardrail on West and Mead streets.

The existing guardrail is being removed and replaced with new installations.

We expect the project to be completed within the next few weeks.

Congratulations to Walton’s newest police officer whom graduated the academy tonight. Not only did he graduate he received the Defensive tactics award!!

This afternoon, we received a complaint regarding a water line break and requested that the service be turned off.

Upon attempting to shut off the water supply, it was discovered that the shut-off valve is inoperable due to significant deterioration, as it was installed in 1938.

The Department of Public Works is expediting the location and repair of the broken pipe and will reinstall a new curb stop shut-off valve.

Additionally, as evident in the pictures, one of the street drain pipes is situated directly above the water main, highlighting the complexity of the infrastructure.

👋 Memorial Day is here and that means only a few more weeks until summer break! We’ve noticed more kids out riding their bikes and an increased number of kids riding their e-bikes. 

✅Parents: we need your help keeping our kids safe, especially on e-bikes. This is a message received yesterday from a concerned citizen who witnessed a close call on Delaware Street.

“We were heading down Delaware St. between 6-8pm. We were about to pass McDonald’s, a SUV was coming from the other way when a young boy rode his e bike across the street, the SUV barely missed him, when a second boy on an e bike came racing across Delaware St. into the McDonald’s parking lot, both boys ran into the McDonald’s. One of the boys was nearly hit by the SUV, who tried his best to stop. Neither boy slowed down or looked before crossing the street.”

Parents please talk to your children about being safe when riding their e-bike. Thank you!
