Last night, Oregon's Boat: The McKenzie River Drift Boat was shown at the Winter 2025 Oregon Documentary Film Festival at the Clinton Street Theater in Portland, Oregon. The documentary won Best Feature!

Congratulations to the whole team, the sponsors, and the local folks that supported this movie.

The McKenzie River Discovery Center has posted registration information for their 2025 McKenzie River boat building workshop, April 21 – 25. Find it here - https://www.mckenziediscoverycenter.org/.../mckenzie.../

Under the guidance of Jayson Hayes (Hayes Custom Boats), students will assemble a 16.5 x 50 McKenzie River classic. Finish and bottom protection are included as a bonus. As is the custom, a lucky student will go home with the boat for the price of the kit.
Due to onsite construction at the MRDC, this year's workshop will be held at the Roy Pruit Memorial shop on the Pruitt property, Campfire, just upriver from MRDC. Roy was a legendary McKenzie guide. His widow, Shelly has opened her doors and property to the workshop.

The Mckenzie River Wooden Boat Festival is at Eagle Rock Lodge on Saturday, April 27th. See you there. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Bring your boat early and we will transport it to the lawn.

Lunch is available as a fundraiser for the McKenzie River Guides Association. Plan to come early and hang out. It's a great way to spend the day on the banks of the McKenzie River.

If you plan to float in from the river, you must launch at Forest Glen Boat Landing at Blue River. It is a 2-hour float, so the launch is a bit after 8:00 a.m.

The launch at Finn Rock is under repair and not available. Please do not attempt a launch at Finn Rock.
