🚧 ROAD 2600 – TEMPORARY CLOSURE & RESURFACING 🚧

The City of Walters Street Department will be performing road maintenance and resurfacing on the first half-mile of Road 2600, which is the portion maintained by the City of Walters.

📅 Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
⏰ Morning until approximately 1:00 PM each day

Road 2600 will be closed to through traffic during these hours, so please plan to use an alternate route.

We understand there are several roads throughout our community that still need attention and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue working through them. Road resurfacing is extremely costly, and the City remains committed to making improvements as funding becomes available.

We apologize for the temporary inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our Street Department works to improve this section of Road 2600.

🚨 WATER LINE BREAK — ROAD CLOSURE & WATER OUTAGE 🚨

The City of Walters Water & Sewer Department is currently responding to a major water line break at the intersection of 3rd Street and Oklahoma Avenue.

🚧 The intersection of 3rd & Oklahoma will be CLOSED while repairs are underway.

💧 Water service will also be temporarily shut off in the area between Oklahoma and 2nd Street, as well as portions of Broadway.

Please avoid the intersection and use an alternate route while our crews work as quickly as possible to make repairs and restore water service.

A huge THANK YOU to our Water & Sewer Department crews for their quick response and for giving up part of their weekend to get this situation resolved for our community.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. We will provide updates as they become available.

We’ve been operating out of our new building for a few months now, but we haven’t had the chance to officially celebrate it with our community!

Please join us Thursday, August 20 at 3:00 PM for the official Walters Police Department Ribbon-Cutting Celebration.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come and extremely thankful for everyone who helped make this new facility possible. This building gives our officers a better place to work and, more importantly, gives us a better location to serve the citizens of Walters for years to come.

Come out, join us for the ribbon cutting, visit with our officers, and help us celebrate this milestone!

⚠️ Public Scam Alert ⚠️

The Walters Police Department has been made aware of reports involving an individual allegedly advertising homes for rent that are not actually available for rent. According to the information provided to us, prospective renters are being asked to send deposits or “hold” money for properties before viewing or verifying ownership.

The reporting party has advised that the matter has also been reported to the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission.

We encourage everyone to use caution when searching for rental properties:
• Never send money before verifying who owns or manages the property.
• Be cautious if someone pressures you to pay immediately to “hold” a home.
• Verify listings through a licensed real estate agent or the property owner whenever possible.
• If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

If you believe you have been the victim of a rental scam, please contact the Walters Police Department so a report can be made.
