🐰🚔 EASTER BUNNY APPREHENDED 🚔🐰

Yesterday, as well as Sunday, Walters PD received multiple reports of a suspicious bunny trespassing in citizens’ yards and leaving behind unknown items (later identified as eggs 🥚).

After a thorough investigation and a short foot pursuit, officers successfully took the suspect into custody. The bunny was found in possession of a large quantity of colorful eggs and showed no remorse.

Thankfully, no one was harmed during the incident… unless you count the parents stepping on eggs in the yard.

All jokes aside, we had a great time at the Easter Egg Hunt and loved seeing our community come out and enjoy the day!

Big thanks to everyone who helped make it a success. 💙

(The bunny has since been released on a promise to return next year.)

🚨 SCAM ALERT – FRAUDULENT TEXT MESSAGES 🚨

The Walters Police Department has been made aware of a scam text message circulating that claims to be from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS) – Driver License Services regarding an unpaid traffic violation.

These messages threaten actions such as:
• Driver’s license suspension
• Vehicle registration revocation
• Collection agency referral
• Legal action

THIS MESSAGE IS A SCAM.

The text includes a suspicious link and attempts to pressure recipients into making an immediate payment. Government agencies such as the Oklahoma DPS do not send payment demands through random text messages with external payment links.

Red Flags in this scam:
• Message sent from an unknown phone number
• Urgent threats of suspension or legal action
• A suspicious payment link that is not an official Oklahoma government website
• Requests for immediate payment

What you should do:
• Do NOT click the link
• Do NOT provide personal or payment information
• Delete the message
• Report it as junk or spam on your phone

If you are unsure about a traffic citation or license issue, contact the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety directly through their official website or phone number.

Please share this post to help protect others in our community from falling victim to this scam.

🚨Sultan Park Temporary Closure 🚨

Due to the approaching storm, Sultan Park will be temporarily closed effective Friday night and all day Saturday as a precautionary measure to help ensure public safety and to protect the park from damage.

With saturated ground, snow, ice and high winds expected, closing the park helps prevent unsafe conditions and protects recent improvements, including newly planted trees and park amenities.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our community safe and preserve our public spaces. The park will reopen once conditions are safe.

Please stay weather-aware and use caution during the storm.
