Just curious — who’s actually leading the Huerfano County Communications Coalition, and how does it operate?
Is this a formal non-profit? County-run? Or a grassroots community group?
I’ve seen some concerning behavior from the person heading it up, including public outbursts that don’t exactly scream “professional communicator” or “community unifier.” Yelling in the street and extreme comments aren’t exactly building bridges.
Can anyone share more info on the Coalition — its structure, funding, leadership selection process, and goals? Transparency matters, especially when it claims to represent community communications.
Who’s really running the show here? Genuine questions from a concerned resident.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Assistant Minority Leader Representative Ty Winter Announces Re-Election Bid for Colorado House District 47

Trinidad, Colo. Today, Assistant Minority Leader Representative Ty Winter (HD 47) announced his candidacy for re-election to the Colorado House of Representatives, continuing his strong commitment to rural Colorado values, economic opportunity, and common-sense solutions for the families and communities of House District 47.

“Rural Colorado deserves a strong voice who will fight every day to protect our way of life, our farms and ranches, our small businesses, and the future of our children,” said Rep. Winter. “Over the past several years, I’ve worked across the aisle to deliver real results on energy, healthcare access, agriculture, veterans’ memorials, and youth mental health. I’m running for re-election because there is still more work to do to keep our district strong, prosperous, and true to who we are.”

Born and raised on a fourth-generation cattle ranch and a small business owner from Las Animas County, Rep. Winter has been a tireless advocate for the rural communities of Baca, Bent, Crowley, Huerfano, Kiowa, Las Animas, Otero, Prowers, and portions of Pueblo counties. His legislative record demonstrates a focus on practical solutions that support working families, agriculture, energy independence, and local control.

Key legislative accomplishments include:

• HB25-1040 – Successfully helped add nuclear energy as a clean energy resource in Colorado statute. This forward-thinking measure recognizes nuclear power’s role in providing reliable, carbon-free electricity, creating new economic opportunities, and supporting a balanced all-of-the-above energy strategy for the state.

• HB26-1336 – Championed legislation to increase access to pharmacy services. The bill expands patient access to high-quality, cost-effective care by requiring insurance coverage for pharmacist-provided services within their scope of practice, improving healthcare access especially in rural and underserved areas.

• SB26-121 – Supported measures addressing overtime thresholds for agricultural employees, protecting the viability of Colorado’s vital agricultural industry while balancing the needs of farmworkers and producers in a challenging economic environment.

• SB26-088 – Advanced legislation to improve funding and oversight for veterans’ memorials and monuments on the State Capitol grounds and in Lincoln Veterans’ Memorial Park, honoring Colorado’s heroes and preserving important historical sites.

• SB26-060 – Backed important reforms requiring mental health training for youth sports coaches, ensuring coaches can better recognize and respond to mental health challenges and concussion-related risks for student athletes.

These bills reflect Rep. Winter’s dedication to energy innovation, healthcare access, support for agriculture, honoring veterans, and protecting the well-being of Colorado’s youth.

“I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, but rural Colorado still faces real challenges — from burdensome regulations to keeping our communities vibrant and our families thriving,” Winter added. “With your support, I will continue delivering results and fighting for the values that make District 47 and Colorado great.”

Rep. Winter invites all residents of House District 47 to join him in this campaign to keep a strong, principled voice for rural Colorado in the State Capitol.
