The transformation from Civilian to Recruit to Marine is not for the faint of heart. This Marine’s journey and transformation is one for the record books.

The Marines of RSS La Puente would like to introduce you to one of our newest Marines. Private Billy Wang!! This Marines journey was not easy to say the least. Pvt Wang began his process in August 2020 with a few hiccups along the way. Almost one year later in July 2021 he enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program after graduating from Walnut High School. Pvt Wang spent almost a year in the Delayed Entry Program to become physically fit and mentally resilient. Through hard work and dedication Pvt Wang shipped to MCRD San Diego for Recruit Training and graduated from India Company on July 15th 2022. Pvt Wang lost over 50lbs, but most importantly he is more confident and is now a United States Marine. Semper Fidelis.

We present to you the Poolees of RSS La Puente!! This Saturday was Recruiting Station Riverside’s Annual Pool Function. Poolees from all 12 sub-stations gathered together at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar to get a taste of what it would be like at Recruit Training. You can already see the discipline manefesting in these young men and women. Thank you the all the Drill Instructors who came to motivate these future Marines!! Semper Fidelis.

Today is Memorial Day. Today we honor the lives of those men and women who have served this country and are no longer able to be with us today. Today is a day of remembrance and memory. Rather than mourn we celebrate their lives and continue where they cannot for they have made that sacrifice for us.

You can join the Marine Corps Reserves from day 1, or decide to become a reservist when you EAS from your active duty contract.

Perks of being in the reserves :
1) benefits including pay, reimbursed travel, healthcare, and networking. You'll meet Marines from all over the country with civilian careers in various industries. This can all be really helpful with building out the life you want.

2) You remain close to the Marine Corps without having to deal with ALL the like room inspections, morning musters, and other nuisances that are part and parcel of active duty

Every person you see in this post is a reservist, even the DI (only 2 active reservists are selected for this duty annually).
