Stop by the first Community Workshop on September 24 between 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Civic Park Community Center (1375 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek).

• LEARN about the General Plan.
• CONSIDER opportunities & hurdles.
• VOICE your big ideas.

In addition to interactive ways for you to provide insight, this self-guided open house will have food and refreshments, raffle prizes, and activities for kids.

Today marks 25 years since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

We remember the 2,977 lives lost, honor the courage of the first responders and everyday people who stepped forward to help, and hold close all those whose lives were forever changed by that day.

In remembrance, flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset. May we continue to carry forward the spirit of service, compassion, and community that emerged in the days that followed.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

This week’s updates include:

• The Ygnacio Valley Library will temporarily close beginning September 9 for upgrades, with library services still available at the Walnut Creek Library - Contra Costa County

• A new official ballot drop box is available at the Center for Community Arts Shadelands Art Center on Wiget Lane, replacing the Ygnacio Valley Library location

• Renovations at the Civic Park playground begin after Labor Day, with the playground closing for a few months during construction

• The Walnut Creek Aquanuts’ annual fall show runs September 3-6 at Heather Farm Swim Center

• The free Labor Day ParKoncert with the Walnut Creek Concert Band takes place September 7 from 6-7 p.m. at Civic Park
