The Contra Costa Juvenile Justice Commission will be holding a public meeting on October 17th to discuss the future of the Orin Allen Youth Rehabilitation Facility and to hear about a new program that the Contra Costa Probation Department is proposing - called the Community Pathways program. The Board of Supervisors currently anticipates providing direction on the future of these programs at their October 25th Board Meeting.
The Commission will be asking institutional stakeholder such as the Probation Department, the District Attorney's office, the Public Defender's office, the County Office of Education, and Behavioral Health to discuss the matter publicly. We anticipate a robust dialog with significant information of interest to the community.
There will be time at the end of the Commission meeting for public comment. The Commission will then move into closed session to discuss and vote on a statement that will be shared publicly in the days follow.
The meeting will be held on Zoom (unfortunately, the Commission still has no physical meeting space in the COVID-19 pandemic).
