Join us this evening at Fowler Park for our 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony!

The Town of Walnut Cove invites our community to come together on Friday, September 11, 2026, for a special 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Fowler Park.

This year marks 25 years since the September 11, 2001 attacks and comes during the year our nation commemorates 250 years of American independence. We invite you to join your neighbors as we remember the lives lost, honor the courage and sacrifice of first responders, and reflect on the resilience and unity of our nation.

521 N Main St., Walnut Cove, NC 27052

The evening will include an invocation, Color Guard presentation, moment of silence, remarks from Mayor Nellie Brown and local elected officials, a Remembrance Walk, Remembrance Tree Ceremony, and meal service for veterans, first responders, and their families.

Please bring a lawn chair for seating during the program.
Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember those we lost, honor those who answered the call to serve, and stand together as one community.

Today, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, to honor the heroes who answered the call, and to remember the strength and unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

On this 25th anniversary of September 11, the Town of Walnut Cove invites our community to join us this evening at Fowler Park from 6-8:30 as we gather in remembrance.

Meeting Schedule Update:

We’ve seen some questions regarding the day of the week for the Walnut Cove Board of Commissioners meetings, so we wanted to clarify.

At the August regular Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board voted to change its regular meeting schedule from the second Thursday of each month to the second Tuesday of each month. Following the Board’s vote, the required notice of the schedule change was filed with the Town Clerk, and the Town’s website was updated to reflect the new meeting schedule.

Beginning with the meeting last evening, the Walnut Cove Board of Commissioners’ regular meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month, rather than the second Thursday.

We understand that changes to meeting schedule can be easy to miss, and we appreciate everyone who follows and participates in Town government. We hope this clarification helps avoid any further confusion.

PUBLIC NOTICE: BULK TRASH PICK UP will take place starting next week, September 14-18 for Sixth St-Stokesburg Rd. The second week will be September 21-25 for Sixth St-Hwy 89, Fowler Rd. area.
Please place trash items at the curb during your week of pickup. The Public Works Department will be coming through by the end of the week checking to make sure all houses have been cleared of the bulk items. Thank you for your cooperation and helping keep our Town clean.

Town of Walnut Cove offices will be closed on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.

We'll reopen on Tuesday, September 8th at 8:00 AM and look forward to serving you then.

The Town held a staff-led utility meeting this week covering the water and sewer system and the financial health of the Water and Sewer Fund. Interim Town Manager Ron Niland gave an overview of the system, and Finance Director Alston Brown presented financial benchmarks for the fund.
