📣📣📣 Sheriff Thomas E. Tuggle with the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office Named Mississippi's American Legion Law Enforcement Officer of the Year

DeSoto County Sheriff Thomas E. Tuggle II has been named the American Legion Department of Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for 2026, earning one of the state's highest honors for law enforcement professionals.

The prestigious award recognizes an officer who exemplifies exceptional service through outstanding community involvement, professional excellence, and unwavering dedication to protecting and serving others.

Sheriff Tuggle was selected from a competitive field of 87 nominees representing law enforcement agencies across Mississippi. His selection reflects a career marked by leadership, mentorship, and a steadfast commitment to the safety and well-being of DeSoto County residents.

As Mississippi's recipient, Sheriff Tuggle will now advance to the national competition in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he will represent the state alongside 424 nominees from across the country for the title of National American Legion Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.

The recognition highlights Sheriff Tuggle's continued dedication to public service and the positive impact he has made throughout DeSoto County.

Major Villalobos attended the “Kickoff to Success” Backpack Giveaway & Community Resource Fair hosted by the Kind Hearts 4 Life Foundation, DeSoto County Dream Center, and Mayor Jimmy Stokes.

The event brought families together by providing free backpacks, school supplies, health screenings, community resources, and other valuable services to help students prepare for the upcoming school year.

We would like to thank Nickey Dean for the invitation and for their continued commitment to investing in the youth and families of the community. We appreciate the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful event.

The Walls Police Department and Walls Fire Department was proud to attend the Mallard Park Block Party hosted by the Mallard Park HOA. It was a great afternoon of fellowship, fun, and strengthening relationships with the community we proudly serve.

A special thank you to everyone who came out, and to our own Chief James, who kept everyone well-fed with his skills on the grill. We appreciate the Mallard Park HOA for the invitation and look forward to many more opportunities to connect with our community.
