📣📣📣 Sheriff Thomas E. Tuggle with the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office Named Mississippi's American Legion Law Enforcement Officer of the Year
DeSoto County Sheriff Thomas E. Tuggle II has been named the American Legion Department of Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for 2026, earning one of the state's highest honors for law enforcement professionals.
The prestigious award recognizes an officer who exemplifies exceptional service through outstanding community involvement, professional excellence, and unwavering dedication to protecting and serving others.
Sheriff Tuggle was selected from a competitive field of 87 nominees representing law enforcement agencies across Mississippi. His selection reflects a career marked by leadership, mentorship, and a steadfast commitment to the safety and well-being of DeSoto County residents.
As Mississippi's recipient, Sheriff Tuggle will now advance to the national competition in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he will represent the state alongside 424 nominees from across the country for the title of National American Legion Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.
