We had a fabulous time at the Boyne Falls Public School Community Expo last night! Answering the question "What is Your Favorite Book" for books and prizes started so many fun conversations about reading (with over 100 responses)! The younger members of our community enjoy so many different types of books, including nonfiction and books in a series, with Dog Man winning the prize for the most mentioned book of the night!

We enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Coming up at our Boyne Falls branch is Pumpkin Decorating with mini white craft pumpkins, on October 17th at 12:00pm!

It's officially time for pumpkin spice and everything nice to keep you cozy as the days grow a bit shorter and cooler! Have a look at the stunning leaves on display this week, then join us inside either branch of the Crooked Tree District Library for a craft, club, or treat!

Do you love everything about libraries? Consider joining our team! The Crooked Tree District Library is now hiring for one or more of the following part-time positions:

Library Page
Library Assistant
Cataloger

Whether you are an avid reader, a former library kid, or a librarian who comes from a long line of librarians, we may have a place for you! If you have excellent customer service skills and are a bit tech savvy (or are willing to learn!), we'd love to hear from you!

Please submit a letter of interest, including your preferred branch(es) and hours of availability, along with a copy of your resume to: [email protected]

We will be accepting resumes through December 15th or until the positions are filled.

The autumnal equinox has arrived, and it's time for all things fall! Join us for this exciting opportunity to paint a fall watercolor scene with local artist Christine Nola during our first After Hours Paint and Sip!

We'll keep warm with sips of spiced tea and cocoa as we paint "A Fall Walk" together on Tuesday, October 13th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Walloon Lake!

For ages 18+
The event is free to attend, but spaces are limited, and registration is required.

Savoring the Summer was a delicious success at our Walloon Lake branch! We tried new recipes that used the tangy spice mix of Mexican origin, Tajin, on a watermelon salad and a spice that's used all over the world, cumin, in a beef-based chili!

For Flavors of Fall, it's time for some sweet and spicy recipes using turmeric and cayenne! Pick up a jar and a copy of the recipe, and enjoy your culinary journey!

We'd like to introduce to you our new Library Director, Sacha Webborn!

For over a year now, Sacha has been bringing engaging programs to Walloon Lake and Boyne Falls, promoting the fun of libraries, learning, and literacy among the younger members of our community while also encouraging lifelong learning through hands-on activities for teens and adults like our Charcuterie class, Terrarium Bar, and Pottery class, in addition to her other library responsibilities in her former role as Assistant Director.

Sacha has brought years of experience with public libraries, programming, and education into this role and is looking forward to continuing her work with the wonderful Crooked Tree District Library communities in her new position!

Do you have a young reader who loves dogs or wants to read with one for the first time?

Next Monday, you can read with Mikko at our Boyne Falls branch! Mikko is a certified therapy dog who loves children and can't wait to meet new friends!

Starting September 14th, young readers can visit the library every Monday after school at 3:30pm and practice their reading skills with a tail-wagging reading buddy! Reading to animals helps build literacy by motivating children to practice out loud in front of a new, friendly audience!
