ORANGE COUNTY POLICE ACADEMY WELCOMES 22 NEW RECRUITS
The Police Chiefs’ Association of Orange County has welcomed 22 new recruits in class 02-25 to the newly named Orange County Police Academy.
Since 2004, 38 classes have attended the Police Chiefs’ Association of Orange County Police Academy. The 39th class will be the first one to attend under the academies new name.
The name change reflects the strong collaboration between the Association, local municipalities, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the County of Orange and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
The 22 recruits will attend the six-month long academy located in the City of Middletown. The recruits will participate in both classroom instruction and hands-on training, taught by instructors from across the region who will provide practical, and up to date skills.
Upon graduation recruits will go on to serve as officers or deputies in the Cities of Newburgh, Middletown, Towns of Crawford, Fallsburg and Warwick; Villages of Liberty, Monticello, Walden and Washingtonville and with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
“The renaming of the academy highlights the strong partnerships between our local and county agencies and the shared commitment to developing well-trained, community-focused officers,” said Town of Crawford Police Chief Dominick L Blasko, President of the Police Chiefs’ Association of Orange County. “We are excited to see these 22 recruits begin their journey at this enhanced training center.”
"The Orange County Police Academy represents the very best of what can be achieved when local law enforcement agencies and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office work together. This new class of recruits will not only receive the highest level of training, but they will also carry forward our shared mission of service, integrity, and community partnership.” Said Orange County Sheriff Paul Arteta. “ I am proud to welcome them into this tradition and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make across our region."
