☀️🚒 SUMMER SAFETY STARTS WITH YOU! 🚒☀️

As temperatures rise and outdoor activities ramp up, take a few extra precautions to keep yourself, your family, and our community safe this summer.

🌡️ Beat the Heat

* Stay hydrated
* Take breaks in the shade
* Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke

🏊 Practice Water Safety

* Never swim alone
* Keep a close eye on children
* Wear a life jacket when appropriate

🚲 Ride Safe

* Wear a helmet
* Be visible
* Always follow traffic laws

🏎️ ATV & Golf Cart Safety

* Wear proper safety gear
* Avoid overloading passengers
* Drive responsibly
* Remember: ATVs and golf carts are not exempt from traffic laws. Obey all posted signs, speed limits, and roadway regulations. Following traffic laws helps protect you, your passengers, and everyone sharing the road.

🔥 Prevent Fires

* Never leave grills or campfires unattended
* Keep flammable materials away from heat sources
* Check smoke detectors regularly

💧 Most importantly: STAY HYDRATED!
Texas summers can be unforgiving. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.

Safe choices today protect tomorrow.
Let’s make this a fun, safe summer for everyone!

This Memorial Day, the Wallisville Volunteer Fire Department pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who gave everything for our nation.

From all of us at Wallisville Volunteer Fire Department — thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward. 🇺🇸❤️

This morning, while assisting with a minor accident and blocking traffic to protect the scene, Hankamer Volunteer Fire Department engines was struck by a vehicle. Thankfully, no responders were injured.

Incidents like this are a reminder of why emergency vehicles are positioned the way they are on scenes — to create a barrier and help protect first responders working on the roadway.

When you see emergency lights ahead:
🚨 Slow down
🚨 Move over
🚨 Stay alert

What may feel like a minor inconvenience could be the difference between a responder making it home safely or not.

Please help us protect those who are out there protecting you. Slow down and move over.

In February alone, 17 fatal crashes were investigated in Southeast Texas—8 of those involved occupants not wearing a seatbelt.

These numbers are more than statistics—they’re lives lost.

Please take a moment every time you get in a vehicle:
✔️ Buckle up
✔️ Slow down
✔️ Put the phone away
✔️ Never drink and drive

Every seat. Every ride. Every time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected. ❤️

In the month of February 2026, DPS Troopers in Southeast Texas investigated a total of 17 fatal crashes, eight of which the occupants were not wearing a seatbelt.

While these crashes remain under investigation, they serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of staying alert and making safe, responsible decisions while driving.

Make safety your #1 priority:

🔹Buckle Up - every seat, every ride, every time.
🔹Avoid Speeding - speeding doesn’t save time, it costs lives.
🔹Avoid Distractions - put the phone down. No text is worth a life.
🔹Don’t Drink and Drive - if you drink, plan ahead.

We want to take a moment to recognize National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

Thank all of our Chambers County dispatchers—the calm voice on the other end of the radio, the first link in every emergency, and the ones who keep everything moving behind the scenes.

We appreciate everything you do for us and our community.
