🌲 Help Shape the Sleeping Giant Visitor Center

Progress on the new Sleeping Giant Visitor Center continues, and SGPA is working with our exhibit designer to help plan the interior displays and interpretive information that visitors will experience once the building opens.

Now, we’d love to hear from you.

What do you want visitors to learn, notice, or understand when they step inside the Visitor Center? What stories about the Giant should be told? What questions do first-time visitors have? What would help people better appreciate the park’s ecology, history, geology, trails, wildlife, and community?

Our designer has created a short survey to gather ideas from park visitors, hikers, neighbors, families, volunteers, and anyone who cares about Sleeping Giant.

Thank you for helping us create a space that reflects the many things people value about the Giant—and helps future visitors better understand and care for this special place.

The 8th annual, in New Haven at SCSU, Friday Oct. 2, 2026.

The CT DEEP & CT Greenways Council 8th Annual Connecticut Trails Symposium is coming up on Friday, October 2, with this year’s theme: “Benefits of Greenways.”

Hosted at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, this annual symposium brings together trail advocates, state and municipal professionals, volunteers, and outdoor enthusiasts from across Connecticut for a day of inspiring speakers, educational breakout sessions, and networking. The event also kicks off a full weekend of partner activities celebrating the many ways greenways strengthen our communities.

💚 Shoreline Greenway Trail is proud to continue supporting and endorsing this incredible event, and we hope to see YOU there!

To the QRLT community: some may have noticed increased construction preparation on the Wilbur Cross Parkway bridge near the Trail. CTDOT has informed the town that starting 8/24, there may be temporary trail closures due to those repairs. The Town of Wallingford and we here on Facebook will post any updates on the expected work.

Today on the Trail, 26 July: lots of walkers, bikers, doggies, kiddies. Two monarch butterflies 🦋 , nice flora, no fauna. Oh, and the requisite minimum seven birds recorded (but no Red Winged Blackbirds, darn).
