Waller ISD’s CARE Team supports families through engagement events, community programs, and services for special populations, including but not limited to Military, McKinney-Vento, and Foster Care students.

As we are getting closer to the CARE Closet's first day open to the community for our Waller ISD family this month, we wanted to highlight and thank so many of the incredible people and organizations that have worked TIRELESSLY to help make the CARE Closet a reality. Our first spotlight is the Waller Women's Club! With their Waller ISD Liaison (the incomparable Julie Bankston), they have poured their time, resources, and heart into making the CARE Closet a reality. Thank you so much, Women's Club! You all have been a light and absolute joy!

Our CARE TEAM NEEDS YOU!
The FAITH Mentoring Program is back and we need community volunteers who have a heart for our Waller ISD students. Our program asks our community volunteers to meet with our students just one time every other week for 25-30 minutes during the student's lunch. A small time commitment that has a lasting and large positive impact for our students. If you would like to be a part of this program on any of our campuses, please attend one of our virtual training sessions! Attending just one of the sessions is REQUIRED for any potential mentor! Attendance does not mean that you are committing, so if you are just INTERESTED in learning about the program, please plan to attend. Our CARE Closet is getting ready to open in September for our Waller ISD families and we are putting the final touches on our space. Our incredible Waller High School Art Students have designed some murals to paint in the building and welcome our community, but WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH SUPPLIES. Please consider donating any of the supplies below and supporting our CARE closet and WISD students. Meet Ms. Adela Cornejo of our CARE Team! As our fearless Family Engagement Liaison, Ms. Cornejo works tirelessly to connect our families to our campuses, district and community resources, and serve everyone in our Waller ISD family. Today was a big day for our CARE Team! Mrs. Cornejo handed out backpacks to our families in need before school starts on Tuesday, and Dr. Guerra was out in the community conducting home visits for our Waller HS students to ensure that every student gets a diploma. An early morning for Ms. Adela at 7AM and a late evening for Dr. Guerra wrapping up home visits at 7:45PM. Our CARE Team is always working to ensure that we are serving our incredible Waller ISD family and campuses! Here’s a beautiful picture Dr. Guerra snapped as the sun began to set as he was visiting families!

We are so excited about our CARE Closet and the different resources it will be able to provide for our Waller ISD family throughout the year. To help our Closet not get overwhelmed with donations, we have created a CARE Closet Donation Calendar for the year that we hope you will be able to give to! For the month of August we are asking for NEW or GENTLY USED school appropriate t-shirts, shorts, and dresses for our students. If you would like to donate any items, there is a large green bin located outside of the CARE Closet (formerly the administration building) located at 2214 Waller Street, Waller, TX., 77484. We are so grateful for the Arbor Church and their incredible congregation for coming to prepare backpacks and supplies for over 1000 backpacks to support our families. Also, a huge thank you to OneOK for their support and manpower to make this fair happen for our community this weekend.
We hope to see you on Saturday from 9AM-12PM!

Our C.A.R.E. Closet is coming together beautifully! We are excited to share more updates soon. In the meantime, we are hoping for 11x14 (OR BIGGER) frames to be able to display student's artwork throughout the year! If you have any old 11x14 frames-of any color-we would be so grateful to have your donations.
