This Memorial Day, as America approaches her 250th birthday, we pause in solemn gratitude to honor the generations of patriots who answered the call from 1775 to today.
From the snows of Valley Forge to Normandy, from Chosin Reservoir to Vietnam, and from the deserts of Iraq to the mountains of Afghanistan — brave Americans stepped forward.
Some gave their lives so we could live free. Others returned home carrying the visible and invisible wounds of war.
They fought not for glory, but for the survival and success of this extraordinary nation. Because of their sacrifice, we enjoy the freedom to speak, worship, build, dream, and raise our families in peace.
Let us never take these blessings for granted. The best way to honor them is to live each day with courage, integrity, gratitude, and love of country.
May God comfort the families of the fallen, and may we prove ourselves worthy of their profound legacy.
