Yesterday, April 6, the Board of County Commissioners issued a proclamation honoring the month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Walla Walla County. Program representatives Clint McCullough and Zach Meyer were present for the commissioners’ signing of this important proclamation.

Keep an eye out for dozens of pinwheels that will be placed on the lawn of the Walla Walla County Courthouse from April 13-28. The pinwheel display aims to raise awareness about the importance of community involvement in supporting families and preventing child maltreatment.

🌟🌸Our spring quarter pre-service training for new child advocates begins on April 6!🌸🌟

Scan the QR code to view the Washington Association of Child Advocate Programs informative FAQs page about what the role entails.

An interview and background check are required before a prospective volunteer can begin training. Trainees will learn about the child welfare system, how to work with children involved in the system, cultural competence, court report writing, and effective advocacy techniques.

Our local Walla Walla Child Advocates staff are happy to answer questions and share insights as you consider volunteering for this invaluable role in our community.

We’re so excited to once again be a part of Valley Giving Guide! You can support our campaign by visiting valleygivingguide.org and donating December 2 - 31.

This year, 100% of all donations received will be going into our Supporting Normalcy Project, which aims to cover expenses for children and youth in foster care to participate in experiences to help build resilience and normalize their time in care. This means every penny you give will directly benefit a child in our community!

Come out tomorrow to support these great causes! And thank you so much to Whitman Kappa Alpha Theta - Delta Delta Chapter for continuing to partner with us in support of our mission to provide every child in our program with a dedicated volunteer to advocate for their best interests.

Are you looking for some family-friendly fun to add to your weekend agenda?! Then come out to join us this Saturday on the Cordiner side lawn at Whitman College! Music, food, games, and it is open to everyone!

A huge thank you to Whitman Kappa Alpha Theta - Delta Delta Chapter, for sponsoring this event; we are so grateful for the continued support and generosity you provide to our program! Proceeds from the carnival will go directly to supporting the invaluable work of our volunteer child advocates.
