Before and After: There are many more important capital budget projects I’ve been able to help get into the capital budget… expansion of the Dayton hospital, funding for a substance use treatment facility in Tri Cities, and others, but one of the most interesting and rewarding for me (as a lover of our region’s history) is the preservation of the 1862 Lamar/Cummings-Goodwin cabin near Prescott. I first learned about the cabin on the Bygone Walla Walla page: http://wallawalladrazanphotos.blogspot.com/2016/09/lamar-cabin-on-sr124-near-harvey-shaw.html?m=1.

After some research, I learned Blue Mountain Community Foundation is the trustee for the cabin. The Foundation was very welcoming of preservation funding.

As one of the oldest existing examples of settler house construction in the region, preserving this treasure was important. I’m happy to share the before and after pictures here!

I appreciate the collaboration of the Blue Mountain Community Foundation for their willingness to work on this together.
