Council Members are elected on a non-partisan, at-large basis to staggered, four-year terms. Council Members elect one of their peers to serve as Mayor for a two-year term. The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to act as the chief executive officer. The City of Walla Walla provides a full range of municipal services for the community. The services and systems for police, fire, ambulance, public works, parks and recreation, library, cemetery, sanitation, water, sewer, are all part of the municipal government.
