September is National Su***de Prevention Month. It’s a time to recommit ourselves to reaching out, listening and staying connected. The latest VA reports released in February 2026 indicate that an average of 17.5 U.S. veterans die by su***de each day.

For veterans who may be struggling, you don’t have to face difficult moments alone. Whether it’s checking in with a fellow veteran, talking with someone you trust, or seeking professional support, asking for help is a sign of strength.

DAV is committed to helping veterans access the mental health resources and support they need. Learn more about how DAV is working to combat veteran su***de: https://www.dav.org/learn-more/news/2024/combating-veteran-su***de-can-start-with-mentorship/

A major win for Reserve and National Guard service members and their families!

Want to find out more about the new Pentagon policy that could give RC members who were previously denied coverage reimbursement for eligible healthcare expenses dating back to 2020 and could expand eligibility to tens of thousands of RC members? We have a new section of our website where you can find all of the information you need to know!

Our own Steve Minyard also had a chance to talk with Task and Purpose about this important policy change and Supreme Court case last week.

You can find the links to both (PLUS links to our related Law Center article AND our TAMP webinar coming up on Thursday) in the comments!

A familiar face. A name you know. A story of service proudly displayed downtown. 🇺🇸

In partnership with the AMVETS Post #1111, the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation is proud to offer an opportunity to recognize, honor, and pay tribute to our local military service personnel.

Banners honoring our brave servicemen and women will be proudly displayed beginning mid-October through mid-November throughout Downtown Walla Walla as a way for our community to express our gratitude for their service to our country and to promote civic pride.

Would you like to honor a hometown hero in your life? Applications are now open through September 23.

Visit our website to learn more about eligibility and submit an application: https://downtownwallawalla.org/hometown-heroes

We want this program to be available to everyone; if you need help paying for the banner, please contact: [email protected]
