Thank you to this community and to all my supporters! I am beyond grateful and honored to be your John Glenn, Liberty Township, School Board representative. I look forward to serving the John Glenn School Community and working with the other members to continue to provide the best educational opportunities possible for every student. Congratulations to Todd McGaughey and Carissa Smith and to all the candidates. The number of candidates who ran for these three seats is encouraging and certainly shows how much the community cares about our children and schools.

This is just one example of why I am running for a School Board position. Amazing teachers like Amanda who think outside the box and challenge our students to push past their comfort zones are what make our school system great. We must maintain a focus on STEAM and I fully support expanding opportunities and curriculum prioritizing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. “Arts” is a more recent addition to the more commonly known STEM acronym and rightfully recognizes the important role creativity plays in developing well rounded students. My children both took high level Math and Science courses at John Glenn, but they were also heavily involved in Show Choir and John Glenn Theatre Company. I am grateful to those programs for making them the confident and creative adults they are today!

Congratulations Amanda! I look forward to hearing more about this project as it moves forward.

I will strongly support efforts to enhance and expand STEAM focused curriculum and ask for your vote between now and November 8th!

Congratulations to Amanda Dreibelbis on being awarded a JGEF grant for her "Blast Off" project. This grant will assist Amanda and her students in their first cross curricular STEAM project. The students will be researching influential individuals in space history, hearing from an aeronautical engineering, and building rockets. 🚀

We are looking forward to following Amanda and her students in this project! Join us in celebrating and cheering them on. 👏🎉

Chris, why aren’t you being supported by the teachers in this School Board election?

Wait……..what?

This is a reoccurring question I have been asked by community members and want to clarify it for everyone.

First and foremost, I AM being supported by teachers. I have spoken to a number of educators since announcing my candidacy and they have voiced there support for me.

I think the confusion stems from signs and other campaign materials being circulated stating “Teachers for……” a couple of candidates. To be clear, it is the “JGEA for….” candidates they chose to endorse. The JGEA (John Glenn Education Association) is the teachers’ union.

The JGEA invited the School Board candidates to participate in a Q&A session with the purpose of selecting candidates to endorse and financially support in this election. I was not able to attend that meeting and am not being endorsed by the teachers’ union.

With all of that said, I DO have the support of teachers in our community.

Spent some time connecting with the Walkerton and North Liberty communities at a few Trunk or Treat events. It was great meeting so many younger families! Miss those days with my kids.

All of the candidates running for School Board were asked to answer a series of questions prior to Meet the Candidates Night hosted by the Walkerton-Lincoln Township Public Library. They are posted on the library’s website or you can view them in this post.

You have the option to vote for 1 candidate from each Twp. in this election and I would appreciate your vote for the Liberty Twp. seat between now and November 8th.

I am attaching the questions (highlighted green) and all of the candidates’ answers. I have also highlighted my answers (orange) and those of my opponent (blue). It is important to know who is asking to represent you on the School Board and I think these responses offer some great insight.

I have a helper tonight at the Trunk or Treat sponsored by HYDRO in North Liberty. Starts at 4pm and goes until 6pm. The amount of treats the generous folks at HYDRO have ready for the kids is amazing!
