New revenue generated by the state’s 2025 transportation funding package is allowing KCRC to move forward with the Vergennes No 29 (McPherson Street bridge) project.
Scheduled for construction in 2027, the project is estimated at $5 million and will use KCRC’s first Neighborhood Roads Fund revenue.
The project represents the beginning of KCRC’s investment strategy for the additional transportation revenue, with new funding directed toward existing infrastructure improvements including bridges, road reconstruction and pavement replacement.
“We have significant needs across nearly 2,000 miles of county roads and 166 bridges, and this additional funding provides an important opportunity to address more of them,” said KCRC Board Chair Rob VerHeulen. “We have a responsibility to invest these resources where they can provide meaningful, long-term benefits, and we are grateful to our legislators for providing the increased funding that allows us to advance projects like the McPherson Street bridge.”
