A reminder from Lower Grand River Organization of Watersheds - Grand Valley Metro Council that storm drains flow directly to our local rivers and streams — not to a treatment plant. Here are ways you can maintain your lawn while also protecting the watershed.

A reminder that storm drains flow directly to our local rivers and streams — not to a treatment plant.

After mowing, take a minute to blow grass clippings back onto your lawn instead of into the street. Grass clippings can benefit your lawn by returning nutrients to the soil, but those same nutrients can harm our local waterways when they wash into storm drains.

Keeping clippings out of the street is an easy way to help protect our watershed.
