After a months long investigation into drug trafficking, this case led by a Walker Detective assigned to the Kent Area Narcotics Enforcement Team, detectives were able to seize:

-567 grams m**h
-114 grams co***ne
-10 grams fentanyl
-7 guns
-Cash & vehicles associated with trafficking

Having a detective assigned to this multi jurisdictional team allows us to not only keep drugs out of Walker, but remove them from the greater West Michigan community as well.

We've seen questions about how our department uses Flock Safety technology.

Walker Police Department currently manages seven cameras throughout the city. These cameras serve as an investigative tool, helping officers & detectives develop leads in cases after incidents are reported. Flock Safety also offers real time alerts related to stolen vehicles or vehicles linked to wanted, missing or endangered persons.

Walker Police Department recently opened our Flock Transparency Portal. This allows the public to see statistics about our use of the technology along with our policies and other information.

-Tuesday, Sept. 29 : 10 a.m.-noon and 6-8 p.m. at Fire Station #3, 1470 Three Mile Road NW

-Tuesday, Oct. 6: 6-8 p.m. at Fire Station #1/Walker Police Department, 4343 Remembrance Road NW

-Thursday, Oct. 15: 10 a.m.-noon and 6-8 p.m. at Fire Station #2, 4101 Lake Michigan Drive NW

The City of Walker is inviting residents to a series of fall open houses to learn more about the proposed public safety millage on the Nov. 3 ballot.

Residents can tour Walker’s three fire stations, meet firefighters and police officers, see where the public safety teams work and learn how the proposal could help Walker meet growing emergency response needs. City leaders will also be available at these open houses.

The open houses will take place:

-Tuesday, Sept. 29 : 10 a.m.-noon and 6-8 p.m. at Fire Station #3, 1470 Three Mile Road NW
-Tuesday, Oct. 6: 6-8 p.m. at Fire Station #1, 4343 Remembrance Road NW
