It has been a busy 24 hours for Waldron City FD! Starting after the storms last nights, 10 different trees were blocking roadways in town. WCFD worked through the night and into the morning to regain access to all city streets, navigating flooded roadways, and assisting in keeping people out of flooded streets. A huge thanks to the good citizen’s of Waldron who came out of their homes near downed trees and helped move debris out of roadways.

This afternoon, Waldron City FD teamed up with multiple fire departments to battle the blaze of a chicken house fire. Firefighters worked extremely hard over the last 24 hours, and are exhausted this evening, but it’s a true honor to serve the people of this great community.

Huge shout out to all of the departments who were on scene of the chicken house fire. Scott County sheriffs dept, Northwest Scott FD, Waldron Rural FD, Mansfield FD, and Huntington FD. It’s an honor to work with our brothers and sister in the fire service from multiple counties. Until next time..

The worst thing you can do during and immediately after severe flash flooding is get out to see what’s going on. This puts first responders in greater danger than they already are.

Power lines and trees are down, and roads are flooded. Please stay home and stay safe as first responders work to bring things back to order.

As you were asleep tonight, Waldron City FD has been hard at work. Over the last 8 hours, Waldron City Fire has responded twice to seperate structure fires. The first at approximately 8:45 p.m. and the most recent at 3:30 this morning. Both fires occurred in the same vicinity of Whittaker Ln and Willow St. it is suspected arson in both cases, as both structures were vacant and abandoned. No injuries reported.

-huge thanks to both Waldron Police Department and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office for their help in bringing the flames under control!

Why is it poor decision making AND illegal to light an abandoned house on fire?

- it creates an uncontrolled environment with possibility to further spread than initially planned by the arsonist.

- it exposes firefighters AND citizens to danger, as they try to ensure flames are controlled to the burning structure. No firefighter should ever have to be injured by fighting the fire of an arsonist.

Help us by keeping your eye out for strange activity. If you see something, say something!

On the morning of Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at approximately 9:30 AM, The Waldron City Fire department was dispatched to El California Mexican Grill off of Highway 71 in Waldron for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters and law-enforcement personnel made entry to the restaurant encountering heavy smoke and fire from the kitchen area/back of the restaurant. Personnel quickly brought the main fire under control. Due to the intricate details of this particular call, with many buildings being connected to the restaurant, it created a challenging task, requiring a multi department response to ensure that the fire had not spread to connected buildings.

Fire personnel, and emergency responders remained on scene for several hours to ensure the fire was completely out. The restaurant suffered severe fire, smoke, and water damage. Surrounding structures received minor smoke. Firefighters tried to assist surrounding buisnesses by ventilating smoke from their buildings.

The Waldron City Fire department would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the emergency personnel who responded today to assist with this very difficult call! Waldron Rural fire department, Hon fire department, Winfield fire department, personel from Parks Fire Departmemt, and Blue Ball Fire department, as well as Waldron, Police Department, Scott County sheriffs department, first choice EMS, and the Arkansas State police.

At 11:56 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, the Waldron City Fire Department was paged to assist our neighboring department, Waldron Rural Fire, with a fast-moving grass fire on Foxy Lane.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered rapidly advancing flames moving toward a nearby residence. Thanks to the quick actions of the homeowners, local citizens, and members of both the Waldron City and Waldron Rural Fire Departments, the residence was successfully protected.

Emergency personnel, citizens, and landowners faced significant challenges accessing the entire perimeter of the fire due to wet field conditions and difficult terrain. Despite these obstacles, through diligence, teamwork, and determination from all those on scene, the fire was brought under control.

The Waldron City Fire Department extends its sincere gratitude to the Waldron Rural Fire Department for allowing us to assist, as well as to every individual who played a role in controlling this incident. No injuries or structural damage were reported.

Huge thanks to all of the departments who assisted on this fire. Waldron Rural Fire, Waldron City Fire, Hon fire department, NW Scott fire Department, Scott County Sheriffs department, Waldron Police Department, and the Arkansas State Police.

The Waldron City Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mackenzie Spears and Butter and Bloom Bakery for their thoughtful appreciation and the cookie cake provided to the department.

On December 3, 2024, Mackenzie demonstrated exemplary civic responsibility by calling 911 after observing a structure fire in Waldron. Since then, she has expressed a desire to show appreciation for first responders. As she began her baking business, she donated this delicious cookie cake to the Waldron City Fire Department, and we would like to acknowledge and thank her for her generosity.
