Folks, NOAA has just issued a ***Tornado Watch*** for our area.

Timing from now until approximately 3:00 pm today. Please get loose stuff, easily blown away lawn furniture, beach umbrellas, RV canopies, all secured now.

Stay safe, and with anticipated tree damage today from high winds affecting trees, be mindful of downed power lines, call 9-1-1 and keep pets, children and quite frankly everything away.

Hi folks,

We hope you’re all enjoying your evening because tomorrow brings another round of severe weather situation potential for us.

High winds are only part the biggest known threat at this time, so take a minute to take down and take inside your patio umbrellas and lightweight furniture including outdoor tents that the kids set up for forts that will become collateral damage if what NOAA believes will develop does in fact develop.

Be well, stay safe, listen to the forecast you trust and keep an eye on the skies tomorrow. Take down extra stuff tonight, the warnings start at 0800 tomorrow.

Help your neighbors, be kind, we are all in this together.

Your friends and neighbors at the Walden Fire Department.

*Be prepared for possible power outages on Thursday*

A seasonally unusual windstorm is expected Thursday with south winds gusting into the 40 to 55 MPH range. In addition to these widespread strong winds during the day, thunderstorms capable of isolated damaging winds will also develop. The potential for severe thunderstorms is primarily during the afternoon.

06/14/2026

Folks, please keep an eye on the sky this afternoon and be prepared to take immediate shelter if you hear thunder.

Unfortunately this is not a 'chicken little' event, we have yet another round of wild weather on tap coming in ahead of a cold front, including torrential rains (upwards of 2" by tomorrow morning), high winds, hail and possibly a 'low quality' tornado, whatever that means!

Bottom line is be aware, stay safe, stay away from downed power lines and keep kids and pets away too.

Please check in on your neighbors who may need assistance, and don't hesitate to call 9-1-1 if you have an emergency.

Be kind to others, we are all in this together.
