Location: Lakeshore Drive,Bessemer Township
Date: September 13, 2026
Time of Page: 1:25pm
Time Cleared: 5:45pm

At 1:25 Wakefield Fire was dispatched for mutual aid by Bessemer Township Fire to a reported brush fire on lakeshore drive on Chaney Lake. Upon arrival, crews located approximately 0.5 acre of brush and trees actively burning. Bessemer Township also requested Wi******er Wis. FD for additional man power.

The fire started from an unattended campfire.

Reminder to always extinguish your fire before leaving it.

Wakefield fire along with multiple other agencies participated in a training exercise at the Gogebic County Airport. The simulated fire was put out, passengers received medical care, hazmat was accounted for and the crews even found the donor heart that was on the plane and got it to the hospital in time. This all happened while keeping the airfield secure from the general public. Training events like this happen every three years and are always a great learning opportunity.

Wakefield Fire was dispatched for mutual aid at 11:07am to a reported processor fire in the wooded area ๏ฟผoff County Road 519๏ฟผ South.. Crews from Wakefield and Bessemer township Fire had multiple hand lines to keep the processor from spreading to the woods.

Damage: Extensive to the equipment

Cause of the fire is unknown
