🎓 Congratulations to all of the graduating University of Rhode Island Rhody Rams this weekend and thank you for the wonderful partnership that allows DVRC to work with such talented and compassionate students.
Our intern, Colleen Lavin (Class of 2026), shares below why her internship at DVRC has been such an impactful experience.

💜What inspired you to pursue an internship with our organization?
I became involved with the DVRC through my sorority when I applied to be a weekly volunteer at the Safe Home last spring; and once I started here, I immediately knew this was an organization I wanted to stay connected to. When I was looking for an internship this semester, I knew I wanted to learn more about and become more involved with the DVRC on a more professional level. Seeing the impact they have made on individuals and the greater South County community has been such a powerful thing to experience and be involved with.
💜How long have you been interning here, and what has your role looked like so far?
I have been interning here since January of this year! I work with Hayley Poff, who is the Director of Client Services, and she is awesome! I basically just experience what she does on a daily basis. I sit in on meetings, I observe her working with clients, we go over to the safe home, whatever each day calls for! I also have been working on different educational presentations and helping to build up new programs!
💜What have you found most meaningful about supporting survivors during your internship?
Working with survivors on such a personal level has been one of the most meaningful experiences I have ever had in my life. Being able to be a safe place for those who have lost that security in their lives, can not be replaced by any other feeling in the world.

🌷 Spring is in full bloom at the DVRC! Our Director of Facilities, Tom, has been enjoying the beautiful tulips brightening up our drop-in office this week.
We are so grateful for the generosity of our community and so lucky to have a beautiful local tulip farm like Flower Farm nearby. Thanks to a thoughtful donation from a kind individual, our space is filled with color, warmth, and cheer. 💜

Thank you for helping make our office feel so welcoming for everyone who walks through our doors.
