Tonight’s training is practicing pulling hose efficiently when we have a fire and then repacking it correctly so it’s ready for the next call. There is a very strategic way each hose is packed so we have the fastest access when we need it!

All fireworks should be displayed at a safe distance away from people and property. Always check in with local forest fire wardens to make sure it is safe to use any type of pyrotechnics.

Tonights training was hydrants and pumping. We learned proper techniques for hooking the truck up to a hydrant, running the truck pumps efficiently and got to practice using the hose with different nozzle streams.

Tonight’s training was practicing driving. The fire trucks are big and a lot different than driving a regular passenger vehicle. There are many things to consider when driving them such as the amount of water on board or how wide to take a turn. Tonight we practiced driving the trucks through an obstacle course to practice turns and backing up and went up the North Rd to practice going up a hill with full loads of water. Everyone did a great job! Thank you Waitsfield Champlain Valley Telecom for allowing us to use your space to train.
