After School at Joslin - Fall 2026
9/8 - 10/20
Mondays* and Tuesdays when school is in session
2:30-4:30

*Please note the switch from Thursdays to Mondays this year

We’re excited to announce that After School is back for a fall session! This year, Rachel Alberico will be in charge of programming. You might know Rachel from her Wednesday morning volunteer shift and helping out with D&D, and now we’re delighted to have her take the reins on After School!

Please take a moment to read these reminders about After School at Joslin:
In accordance with library policy, participants must be 8 years or older OR attend with a responsible caregiver (16 years or older). While our After School program is not traditional childcare, it’s a great opportunity to foster independence, familiarity and ownership of our library, and have fun using library resources with friends! This program happens during regular Library hours and other patrons will be using the space. Before your child’s first time at After School, please have a conversation to set expectations for their time at the Library. There is no registration for this program; Rachel will have a sign-in sheet at arrival. Please reach out to Anna with any questions: [email protected].

It's almost time for our final Summer Learning Program event!!
🍕Pizza Party on the Warren Town Green🍕
Saturday, July 25th (Today!)
4:30-7 pm

TODAY is our final event for the summer learning program! Bring the whole family for outdoor pizza-making, lawn games, dino activities, and more!

American Flatbread has donated dough and we’re providing cheese, sauce, and some other odds and ends. We’ll also have a few gluten free doughs. If you’re facing a garden surplus or have a favorite fixing you’d like to share, we also invite you to bring any toppings to add, potluck style!

The weather looks perfect but too toasty for a fire pit and marshmallow roasting, so we’ve pivoted our sweet treat to freeze pops instead! We’ve even borrowed some snazzy portable pizza ovens so we can keep all the festivities outside in the sun. Drop in to celebrate anytime between 4:30 and 7…see you soon!

Joslin's Crafternoon is today! We're going to keep it outside and cross our fingers that the weather will cooperate! Join us for Natural Pigment-Making at the Eddy TODAY at 2-3:30

Meet at the Joslin Library so we can all head over to the Eddy by the Covered Bridge. We'll be using a mortar and pestle to make pigments from rocks which we'll test out on paper AND use as face and body paint. Bathing suits recommended for maximum canvas space and easy clean up.

It's time to reveal our third and final Adventure Hunt clue! 🔎 (Remember, you only need one clue to complete the hunt)

Libraries are oh so essential,
And this one, of three, is most central.
Downstairs on a shelf
You can see for yourself
A location that is confidential.

Look at the labels along the spine
Until you see some with 567.9

Special thanks to for providing this year's prizes!

The ACLU For YOUTH Summer Program!
August 12, 13, 14
11 am - 4 pm
Meeting at the Waitsfield Village Meeting House & Joslin Memorial Library
Open to middle and high schoolers (rising 7th-12th graders)
Free to attend! Register here: TINYURL.COM/ACLUFORYOUTH

Join us for a three-day workshop facilitated by local high school students and teachers as well as ACLU VT staff, lawyers, and policy advocates. Each day will center on one of three key issues the ACLU works on:
-Immigrant Rights
-Trans Rights
-Housing Rights
Participants will choose and implement a direct action each day related to the topics you're passionate about. You'll leave with a strong understanding of your rights and how to advocate for others'. The workshop will also teach skills and methods for bringing your learning to the broader community. You'll practice public speaking and debate skills, learn how to argue a case from a lawyer, and make educational zines to distribute to the community.

The program will culminate in a mock trial based on a real ACLU case that will be held at Joslin Library and open to the wider public.
