We are proud to recognize and celebrate the dedication of several Aloha Independent Living Hawaiʻi team members who recently reached important employment milestones!
In May, we recognized:
- Zee on her 7th anniversary as Executive Assistant
- Lehua on her 2nd anniversary serving the islands of Maui and Lānai
In June, we celebrated:
- Holly Pickens-Torres on her 5th anniversary serving the island of Kauai

Helen Keller was an author, educator, and disability rights advocate who became deaf and blind after an illness as a young child. With determination and support from her teacher, Anne Sullivan, she learned to communicate and later became the first deafblind person in the United States to earn a college degree. Helen Keller spent her life advocating for disability rights, accessibility, education, and inclusion, inspiring generations around the world.

Today we celebrate King Kamehameha Day, honoring King Kamehameha I, the leader who united the Hawaiian Islands and helped shape Hawaiʻi’s history and culture.

This day is an important reminder of the strength, leadership, traditions, and aloha spirit that continue to inspire communities across Hawaiʻi.

King Kamehameha Day is celebrated with lei draping ceremonies, parades, cultural events, and gatherings throughout the islands to honor Hawaiian heritage and history.

Please note that our office will be closed today in observance of King Kamehameha Day and will reopen the following day.
