ARF Operation Cat Program Through a vast network of volunteers Operation Cat humanely reduces the growing number and needless suffering of homeless, feral and stray cats.

Through a vast network of volunteers the ARF Operation Cat Program humanely reduces the growing number and needless suffering of homeless, feral and stray cats by using an effective trap/neuter/return strategy (TNR). Volunteer caretakers provide food, water and shelter for over 1,000 cat colonies, ranging in size from two to thirty cats. They trap the cats, bring them to the ARF Adoption Center in

Wainscott or a local veterinarian where they are altered and vaccinated, and then release them back to their colony. One of the cat’s ears is notched to identify it as an altered cat so it is not mistakenly trapped again. Since the program’s inception in 1997, over 20,000 feral cats from Speonk to Monauk and most recently Brookhaven township have been altered.
